Microneedling vs. Nanoneedling

Fall is in the air, pumpkin spice is everywhere and it’s never been a better time to schedule your fall professional treatments. If you slipped off your routine over summer, get back on to set your skin up for success for the colder months ahead.

Both nanoneedling and microneedling treatments are used to rejuvenate the skin, encourage collagen production and do wonders for skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles. It’s no wonder that they’re one of my favorite treatments we offer here at Fine Line!

The difference is in the delivery…and needle depth.

Nanoneedling aka nano-infusion uses tiny pyramid shaped tips with a depth about ⅓ the thickness of hair that separate the cells of the first layer of skin otherwise known as the epidermis prepping it for serum infusion. This is a great non-invasive introductory treatment for those who would like to try a needling treatment but aren’t quite ready to dive straight into microneedling. There is no numbing or downtime required so it’s a great lunchtime cosmetic facial. Active serums are typically applied and infused into the skin for increased efficacy resulting in glowing skin right after the treatment. This surface level skin procedure is great before a special event.

Microneedling uses a needle pen tool that is between .1 - 2.5 mm long to stimulate the collagen production of the skin. There is minimal discomfort and the skin will have a rosy glow upon checkout. This treatment is perfect for those with acne scars, texture and pigment issues as well as deeper lines, large pores and dull or sagging skin. Numbing is required and it is typical to have some facial redness post treatment which dissipates within 24-48 hours. We recommend you take the rest of the day off from wearing makeup and take the day off from spinning on your Peloton. I love to order takeout and watch my favorite show for the rest of the evening. Make sure to treat the skin gently, wear SPF and avoid direct sun exposure in the days after your treatment.
