Spring Into Summer Skincare

The weather is heating up and it’s that time of year to start showing more skin. Before you take on your summer adventures be sure to take these steps to prep your skin.

  1. Spring Cleaning. Check expiration dates on your home care products. Formulations will separate over time and lose efficacy. Pay special attention to sunscreen and products containing active ingredients such as vitamin C or AHA. Using products that are outside of expiration could lead to irritation and sensitivity. Products typically have a small graphic on the back or bottom stating how long to keep once opened. It is typically anywhere from 6-24 months. Check this indicator and also toss anything that has a stale or funny smell.

  2. Adjust your routine as needed. Skin feeling extra dry? Try a more emollient cream for night or go for an oil on top of your normal serums and creams. Perhaps the warmer weather has your skin feeling more oily so it might be a great time to try a cleanser with a gel consistency once per day to get a thorough cleanse.

  3. Get a fresh start. Is golden hour exposing all of your peach fuzz? It’s time to try a dermaplane treatment. This non-invasive facial exfoliates dead skin cells and rough texture while also removing fine hairs from the face. The result is bright, glowing and smooth skin that can be achieved on your lunch hour. You’ll be checking yourself in the mirror all the way back to the office. Book an appointment

  4. Increase your hydration. As the temps rise so does the dehydration factor. Aim to drink more water and supplement with an electrolyte daily. I myself struggle to keep drinking enough water and I love the convenience of our Rehydrate + TruMarine Collagen packets. I have these stashed in my bag and suitcase. Organic, non GMO and they taste great so you’ll be feeling and looking great all season long. ReHydrate™ + TruMarine® Collagen stick packs (20) - TWIST

  5. Try a sunscreen you will love. Meet the Larkly Powder Sunscreen This SPF 30 powder can be applied over your Tizo SPF or makeup and this is my go-to for festivals or travel as it has a built-in brush applicator. You will have full spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection that is super easy to use. The best part? It’s cute size fits in your belt bag or crossbody!

  6. Be mindful when exfoliating in the summer months. It’s imperative to stay out of the sun and use sun protection if you are using exfoliating acids or enzymes at home. Also, avoid these products at all costs if you do get a sunburn. Wait for the skin to heal and please avoid exfoliating treatments if you are currently sunburned. Use our Mandelic Super Serum for a gentle exfoliation at home and follow up with our Ultra Zinc Body & Face Sunscreen.
