How To Care For The Eye Area

Did you know that the skin around your eyes is significantly thinner than the rest of your face? It also lacks oil glands and has less collagen making this area the first to start showing signs of age due to dryness and wrinkles. Due to the delicate nature of this area, we have to treat it a bit differently than the rest of the face and here are some tips to help keep your peepers looking their best.

  1. Eye cream isn’t just another product you need in your vanity. Eye creams and serums are specifically formulated for this area. Applying your regular moisturizer to the eye area can result in irritation or milia which are the little white clogged pores that form like pebbles under the skin. We recommend In Focus Copper Eye Cream. This refreshing gel combines antioxidants and botanicals to help soothe and hydrate the skin and it even helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles.

  2. A treatment mask is a great way to pamper your skin in-between your office visits so we recommend our Vital Eyes Hydrogel Patches. I love applying these at the same time as a creamy face mask for a little 2-in-1 home facial. Also, these are great to use before any type of event or before applying makeup. They instantly plump and hydrate the skin and upper cheek area and make you look so refreshed.

  3. At the end of the day, using a product that is specifically designed for removing eye makeup is key. Avoid those makeup remover wipes and instead soak a cotton pad with eye makeup remover and hold it onto the eye area for 20 seconds and then gently swipe. You can also use our Clean Cushiony Cleanser here! Never tug or pull and avoid using a harsh facial cleanser or exfoliators on the eye area. This will cause irritation and dehydration to the delicate eye skin.

  4. Use a silk eye mask while you sleep. This will help to create a soft cushion for the delicate eye area especially if you are a stomach or side-sleeper.

If you’re looking to refresh your eye area, try microneedling! I absolutely love the results I see in my clients. This treatment stimulates collagen production reducing fine lines and discoloration and it’s safe for the entire face and eyes. You can read all about it here.
