Summer Skin Care Focus

It’s officially summer and skin care may not be the first thing that comes to mind when the sun is shining bright and boats are cleaned up for #lakelife. Shift your skin care focus to protecting and hydrating for summer, you will thank us later.

Sun exposure and exfoliating don’t mix well so keep your resurfacing treatments to a minimum if you’re planning on spending your days in the sun. When you resurface, you are actually removing the top layers of skin cells, making your skin extra prone to sunburn and damage. You can still incorporate some physical exfoliation such as our Surface Skin Retexturizer for maintenance.

We recommend focusing on exfoliating the t-zone and congested areas only and take extra gentle care on the sensitive areas like cheeks, neck and décolleté or skin with active breakouts. As always, plan on hiding in the shade and wearing SPF especially if you have done any exfoliating treatments at home or in our office. Pack our go-to faves for protecting your skin this one is tinted and this one is non-tinted.

Also, check out this new sunscreen powder we have that you can easily use to touch up your protection on the go! It’s reef safe, and comes in an easy application brush that gives UVA/UVB SPF 30 protection. Bonus: it’s TSA approved for your carry-on luggage! Larkly SPF 30 Mineral Powder Sunscreen

It's best to avoid sun exposure during the peak times of the day between 10am and 4pm when the sun is brightest. During summer in Seattle, this time can extend a bit later than this average so be mindful of that.

Don’t forget to pack your antioxidants in your beach tote such as The Perfect C which assists in brightening and protecting your skin and helps to decrease the damage from UVA/UVB rays. Apply in the AM after cleansing and before SPF.

In addition to increasing your topical antioxidant intake, we recommend hydrating from the inside out using our ReHydrate™ + TruMarine® Collagen stick packs. This supplement can be added to water and help to reduce jet lag symptoms and supercharge hydration at the cellular level. These easy-to-use sticks are travel friendly and provide electrolytes that replenish the body and skin. They also contain collagen which boosts elasticity and aids in glowing, youthful looking skin. Stock up and be sure to put these on your vacay packing list.

The perfect antidote for chapped and dry summer skin is our Revival Drops. Apply this product on top of your hydrating cream for a nice cocktail of moisture. It contains vitamin C and Liquid Oxygen while essential oils provide protective antioxidants vital to the skin.

Give your eyes a little TLC and try the Vitaleyes Hydrogel Eye Patches the next time you get ready for the day. These soothing gel patches reduce puffiness and add intense hydration to the delicate eye area. Don’t have extra time in the AM? Keep them near the TV remote for a self-care nighttime routine while watching your fave Netflix show. They double up as a soothing cold treat if you store them in the fridge and apply after a hot day.

Have any fun summer plans?? We would love to hear what you’re up to! Drop it in the comments!
