Spring Clean Your Skin
It’s that time of year when we start cleaning out the closet and refreshing our homes for the warmer months ahead. Why not spring clean your skin care products too?
I like to begin with those products that collect dust in the back of the shelves or deep in a drawer. First ditch liquid items that haven’t been used in a while. Old mascara, eye liner, cream eye shadows and concealers tend to accumulate bacteria fastest. This goes for most cosmetic products when in liquid or cream form. Pay attention to old sunscreen as it loses its efficacy after about a year so be sure to check expiration dates and stock up on a fresh bottle before summer. If you have an eye shadow palette that you love but it’s seen better days, you can take a clean tissue and wipe off the top layers. Toss those trendy palettes from 5 years ago though. They have had their moment and it’s better safe than sorry or else you risk an eye infection. Wipe down the outsides of your go-to products with alcohol wipes and store in clean cosmetic bags or drawers.
Let this blog be your reminder to clean your self care accessories. Makeup brushes, beauty blenders, sponges, dry brush, exfoliating gloves or any other items that are high traffic for your self care routines need a deep cleaning. If they are in bad shape and falling apart, fraying or beyond cleaning just toss and invest in some fresh ones. Treat yourself!
Get a head start on your glowing summer skin now. I recommend a dermaplane, nano-infusion or microneedling appointment which will smooth the skin texture and give the ideal spring cleaning to your skin. Benefits are brightening, reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as a major improvement in softness not to mention your makeup which will look phenomenal! Hello fresh canvas!
